Clients have included major gaming manufacturers (IGT, Aristocrat, Light & Wonder, Everi), mobile gaming companies, state agencies (California, Texas, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Alabama), and private litigants in patent, trade secret, and regulatory matters. Engagements have spanned the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Portugal, and Costa Rica, before courts, gaming commissions, and private counsel.

Notable matters

MEI-GSR Holdings v. Peppermill Casinos — misappropriation of trade secrets. Retained by Robison, Belaustegui, Sharp & Low on behalf of the defendant, Stacy developed mathematical techniques to reverse-engineer slot machine par settings, demonstrating that the allegedly stolen par settings were not trade secrets. Jury verdict for the defense, affirmed by the Nevada Supreme Court.

TNT Amusements v. Torch Electronics — unfair competition. Retained by Bryan Cave on behalf of the plaintiff, Stacy identified randomness in software source code for games marketed as "no chance" games. Jury verdict for the plaintiff and subsequent judicial order that the accused games were unlawful gambling devices.

INAG v. Richar — patent infringement. Retained by Fisher Broyles on behalf of the defendant, Stacy provided trial testimony that defendant's roulette device did not infringe plaintiff's patent. Jury verdict for the defense after less than one hour of deliberation.

Lottotron v. Allgames Casinos — patent damages. Retained by Stadheim & Grear on behalf of the plaintiff, Stacy provided quantitative analysis and testimony at a hearing on patent damages. The plaintiff was awarded damages exceeding $14 million.
